We have been so super busy with the back to school rush that my poor blog has been neglected.
Missy is now in her second week of first grade and loving it. I’m sure that will change once homework starts coming home (they said we won’t see homework until September). Before school started Missy had an eye exam as she didn’t pass the screening at the pediatrician’s when we went for her 6 year well check. She did have to get glasses and has taken that completely in stride – I’m really impressed and proud of how well she’s done with them and how it doesn’t bother her that she has to wear them. Here’s a picture of her in her new glasses, this is from my cell phone, so please excuse the poor quality.

Little Man is taking to the new routine okay, but seems very lonely without Missy here. It’s been nice to have the one on one time with him and play cars (didn’t get to do that before) and stuff with him. Although the last week we’ve been running errands most of the day and only here for nap time and lunch. Hopefully next week should slow down for us and allow us more time at home to play etc. We’ll also be starting Gymboree classes during the week to give us something fun to do and for him to have something besides playing with me to do.
I have officially started college. Monday evening I went in for my first “in school” class. I was totally intimidated by going, but it didn’t turn out to be so bad after all. Now I just have a lot of homework to get done before I go back to class next week. I have my math class tonight – so that should be interesting and then I am also taking 2 online classes. So I’ve had to restructure our schedule a little to accommodate my study time during the day. This is definitely going to be challenging, but I think once I get into the swing of things, it’ll all run smoothly – this may become the focus of my blog for a while, but we’ll see.
Update on Freddie – After moving him to his new spacious 30 gallon tank, we had a slight accident and he got trapped under the false bottom of the tank. For those of you not familiar with terrarium set up a false bottom raises where you would put the dirt etc (the land portion) of the tank up to accommodate for the water without taking up too much space from the land. We had left a small gap in the flooring to make room for a tube that would allow us to add more water if needed to the pond and Freddie managed to find this hole and slip right through. So Rick came to Freddie’s rescue and pulled the tank apart and rescued him before he suffocated under there – poor thing then had to live in a tupperware container for a few days until we could get the tank back to where it was safe for him to live in it again. I didn’t take any pictures of how destroyed the tank ended up because my camera batteries were dead. We have since put Freddie back in his home and he’s now quite happy in his new bigger tank. I have to take some pictures of his new home and of him as he’s grown quite a bit since I last updated about him. The little tank that he was in before is going to be a new home for some fish for Little Man as he’s quite fascinated with them.
well, that’s about it for updates from me, but I’m hoping that once I get settled into my new routine I’ll be able to blog more often.
Until next time.

It all started last night when we got home from grocery shopping. Rick had driven home in my truck with Adam and brought home the groceries with him. Missy & I took the pick up truck and stopped at Publix for a couple of things for dinner and then headed home. As I pulled in our drive way there was a HUGE swarm of bugs (I now know different – keep reading). So I run in the house and grab Rick leaving Missy in the car to wait for one of us to carry her in as we run way faster than she does. So Rick comes out and we realize that these aren’t just bugs these are HUGE BEE’s! They were swarming all around our garage (it juts out from the rest of our house) and you could hear them buzzing – I’ve never heard anything like it – the stuff you see in the movies.. was soo totally going through my head last night.
So today we had the “bee man” come out and remove the bee’s. Unfortunately because they were an african type of bee according to Florida law they had to be killed as these are the aggresive type of bee’s and they would’ve attacked us – thank god that didn’t happen – none of us got stung, so for that I’m thankful. He donned his “bee suit” and braved these angry bee’s and removed them and the honey comb they were building inside our attic. He said that they had been there at least a week to have built the 2 little pieces of honey comb up there.
Here’s some pictures of our unwelcomed guests as they clung to the chimney and soffet – this was only half of the bee’s as there was just as many inside our soffet.

Over at I ♥ Faces this week for the photography challenge is a beach theme. Living in Florida we live only 20 minutes from the beach and I hate to say it, but we rarely go! The kids both love going and we’ll probably start going once it cools down a little (I know, not something you normally think when you plan to go to the beach, but it’s just so hot and humid here that the beach isn’t always fun).
Here’s my submission for this week. This photo I took back in 2005 of Missy on the beach – we’d picked up Rick from work and headed straight to the beach – it’s the best time to go during the summer – and we’d had a storm come through and the seaweed had been brought up on the sand, it made for a great photo, but it was kinda in the way of making big sandcastles!

To check out some of the other gorgeous photo’s head on over to I ♥ Faces blog and check out the entries! Good luck to everyone who participates!

I managed to squeeze in a few minutes of me time this afternoon while Little Man napped, so I decided to scrap. I used a super cute kit created by my friend Amber and it’s just perfect for pictures of your little ones (scroll down to find out kit information). This photo is from this weekend and it was just soo cute not to snap! I still don’t know what he was pouting about lol.

Well now I’m off to cook dinner.

I finally have something to post! This isn’t something I finished recently as life here has just been a little too crazy for me to sit still long enough to cross stitch anything.
This is the ornament I made back in June for the Christmas In July exchange over at the EMS cross stitch board.
Here’s the finished ornament & stash that I sent to Jeannine

The ornament is from Donna Kooler’s Cross Stitch Designs Book.
Hopefully I can start picking up my cross stitch again now that the rush of the summer is almost over and start posting more work in progresses soon.

Here’s a layout I created for a friend of mine – Amber. I have been slacking in the creative team member department and I’ve finally found some creative juices and scrapped this page for her of her husband and son.

I created this layout using “Oh So Negative” Template pack by Stolen Moments (Amber) & Wyken, Blyken & Nod both available in her store at Sunshine Studio Scraps.
Here’s the previews to the template pack and the kit that I used for the page – both are linked to Amber’s store.

Well I’ve totally been slacking with my blogging, but I’ve had good reason to be away from the computer
Missy turned 6 on Sunday. I still can’t believe it. It doesn’t seem that long ago that she was the tiny little baby that I bought home from the hospital. She’s growing up to be a fantastic person and I truly enjoy every minute with her. This year we decided not to do a big birthday party as we didn’t know who from school to invite – one down side to having a summer birthday – and we thought it would be nice to do something just the 4 of us this year. So Saturday morning we loaded the kids into the truck and headed off to Orlando. Since Missy is really into science and how things work/made we thought she’d really enjoy Wonder Works – a hands on, learning center. She got to stand in a category 1 hurricane strength winds, Rick felt what a 5.1 earthquake felt like, we felt how cold the ocean was the night the Titanic sunk (27 F and boy was it cold!!), Missy got to pull herself up a wall using pulleys, Rick laid on a bed of nails.. the list just goes on and on and that’s just the highlights! Here’s a few pictures from our trip.

Then Sunday we spent the day at home. We had Missy’s best friend over for lunch and a play date. The girls played out in the little splash pool and had a blast. Rick & I also ended up getting soaked too. Then we headed out to Texas Roadhouse for a birthday dinner. Everyone in the family came and spent the evening with Missy.
This year I didn’t do a big fancy cake as we were going out to dinner, so last night we had a Carvel ice cream cake. So Little Miss has had 3 days of birthday celebrations!
Today I’m off to register Missy for school (where has the summer gone!). I know she can’t wait for school to start again, I have a feeling she’d like a break from her little brother always being in her business. The house will be very quiet once school starts – I’m not sure what I’m going to do with all the quiet!
Well, I must run as I have some stuff to accomplish today.
Hope you’re all well!
Take Care.

A few random quotes from Missy this weekend. Enjoy!
Missy: Mama, you make the best snacks AND the best cookies.
Me: Thanks honey, so what’s Daddy the best at?
Missy: Washing Dishes.
From the back of the truck -
Missy: Do you hear that?.. I hear my fingers
Me: your fingers? They’re making noises?
Missy: Yeah, I learned to snap – listen..
*very faint snap sound can be heard*
Missy: SEE.. I have NOISY fingers!
